Installing SnapIt
Download the installer from the SnapIt page and run it. Windows may show a "Windows protected your PC" SmartScreen warning, since the installer isn't yet code-signed — click "More info", then "Run anyway" to continue. This is expected and doesn't affect how the app works.
First launch and the free trial
SnapIt opens straight into its dashboard and starts in free trial mode automatically — no account or sign-up needed. The trial includes 75 captures, tracked locally on your machine, before you need a license to continue.
Taking a capture
Use Ctrl+Shift+F for a full-screen capture, or Ctrl+Shift+A to drag-select a specific area — both work from anywhere, even while SnapIt is minimized to your system tray. You can also set a 3, 5, or 10 second delay timer before a full-screen capture fires, useful for capturing a menu or hover state.
Annotating a capture
Every capture opens in a review screen before it's saved. From there you can draw arrows, boxes, and highlights, or add a text label. Undo is available if you want to redo a mark, and once you're happy with it you can save it, copy it straight to your clipboard, or discard it.
Capture history
Your last 20 captures stay available in the dashboard, so you don't need to dig through folders to find something you just took.
Activating your license
Purchased a code (from AppSumo or Gumroad)? Click "Activate License" in the dashboard, paste your code, and click Activate. This unlocks unlimited captures and removes the trial limit. Activation is tied to the specific Windows installation it's activated on.
Troubleshooting
SmartScreen warning on install: expected for now, since the installer isn't code-signed yet — see the installation step above.
Trial count didn't reset after reinstalling: this is intentional. Trial usage is tracked against your Windows installation, not the installer file, so reinstalling won't grant additional free captures.
Activation code not working: double-check you've copied the whole code, including all dashes. If it still doesn't work, email support@smartyapps.xyz with your code and we'll sort it out.
