Overview
Smarty Image Tools is an Android app by SmartyApps for compressing, resizing and converting images. The app has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of ours. All image processing happens on your phone, and your images are never uploaded to us or to anyone else. We do not collect, receive or store any personal information about you. This page explains what the app does with your images and how its advertisements work.
Your images
You choose images using the standard Android Photo Picker. The app only receives the specific images you select; it does not request access to your photo library, storage, camera or files. Selected images are processed on your device by code built into the app, and the results are held temporarily in the app's private storage. Nothing is sent over the internet as part of processing.
When you save a result, you choose where it goes using Android's system file picker. When you share a result, it is passed to the app you pick in Android's share sheet, and that app's own privacy policy applies from then on. Temporary files are kept only in the app's private storage and are removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
Information stored on your device
The app does not keep an account, history of your images or a profile of you. Any temporary working files stay on your device and we cannot see them.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app may show a banner advertisement at the bottom of the screen and an occasional full-screen advertisement after you successfully process images, served by Google AdMob. Some versions of the app may be ad-free. Ads are the main reason the app connects to the internet, and your images are never part of any ad request.
To deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app collects and shares with Google certain information automatically: your device's IP address (which may be used to estimate your general location), interactions with ads (such as taps), diagnostic information about the app's and the SDK's performance, and device identifiers, including the Android advertising ID and app set ID. This information is encrypted in transit. We do not receive this data and do not combine it with anything else. Google's handling of it is described in the Google Privacy Policy at policies.google.com/privacy and at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
We ask AdMob to serve ads suitable for general audiences.
Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google shows a consent message the first time the app starts, using Google's User Messaging Platform. It asks whether Google and its partners may use your device information to show you personalised ads, or only limited, non-personalised ads. No ads are requested until you have made your choice. If you decline, you may see only limited ads that do not use your device information for personalisation, or no ads at all, depending on your region and Google's rules. You can review or change your choice at any time using the Ad privacy settings link at the bottom of the app's home screen, which appears wherever Google requires it. A similar choice may be offered to users in certain US states.
Your choices about ads
You can reset or delete your Android advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalisation, in your phone's Settings (usually under Privacy → Ads). You can also manage your ad settings at adssettings.google.com. If you use the app offline or block its network access, it works fully with no ads.
App updates
The app uses Google Play's in-app update feature to tell you when a new version is available. This is handled by Google Play on your device under Google's own terms; we do not receive any information from it.
Permissions
In versions that show ads, the app requests internet access and network state, used only by the ads SDK, and access to the advertising ID, used only by the ads SDK as described above. It does not request your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.
Children's privacy
Smarty Image Tools is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not collect personal information from anyone.
Data retention and deletion
We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete. Data on your device can be removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it. Data held by Google as described above is governed by Google's policies and controls.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Updates will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
