Overview
Quran Colors is an Android app by SmartyApps for reading the Quran offline, with tajweed colour coding and optional English and Urdu translations. The app has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of ours. We do not collect, receive or store any personal information about you. This page explains what stays on your device and how the app's single banner advertisement works.
Information stored on your device
To remember your place and preferences, the app saves a small amount of information in its private storage on your phone: your last reading position, bookmarks, and your chosen theme, text size and weight, Quran script, translation and translator. This information never leaves your device and we cannot see it. It is removed when you clear the app's data or uninstall the app.
The Quran text and translations
The Arabic text, tajweed annotations and translations are bundled inside the app, so reading works fully offline. The app does not download any Quran content. Sources and licences are listed under "Sources & credits" in the app's About screen.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows one banner advertisement at the bottom of its home screen, served by Google AdMob. No ads appear in the reader or anywhere else in the app. This is the only reason the app connects to the internet.
To deliver and measure ads and to prevent fraud, the Google Mobile Ads SDK in the app collects and shares with Google certain information automatically: your device's IP address (which may be used to estimate your general location), interactions with the ad (such as taps), diagnostic information about the app's and the SDK's performance, and device identifiers, including the Android advertising ID and app set ID. This information is encrypted in transit. We do not receive this data and do not combine it with anything else. We ask AdMob to serve ads suitable for general audiences.
Your choices about ads
You can reset or delete your Android advertising ID, and opt out of ad personalisation, in your phone's Settings (usually under Privacy → Ads). You can also manage your ad settings at adssettings.google.com. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app shows Google's consent message the first time ads would be requested, and ads are only requested after you respond. You can change that choice at any time from "Ad privacy settings" on the app's About screen, shown where it applies. Offline, or if you block the app's network access, the app works fully with no ad.
Permissions
The app requests internet access, used only to load the banner ad, and access to the advertising ID, used only by the ads SDK as described above. It does not request your location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos or files.
Children's privacy
Quran Colors is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not collect personal information from anyone.
Data retention and deletion
We hold no data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete. Data on your device can be removed by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it. Data held by Google as described above is governed by Google's policies and controls.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Updates will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
